Who is the Data Coalition and What Do They Do?
The Data Coalition is the world’s first, and only, Open Data Trade Association. They advocate on behalf of the private sector and the public interest for the publication of government information as standardized, open data. Open data enhances accountability, improves government management, reduces compliance costs, and stimulates innovation. Their members represent a cross-section of the technology industry and implementers.
The Data Coalition, on behalf of both the private sector and the public interest:
- Advocates legislative and regulatory mandates for data standardization and publication;
- Educates government leaders, private-sector innovators, and the public on the benefits of data transparency; and
- Convenes stakeholders to collaboratively design policies and build technology solutions that will drive the data transparency transformation.
The Data Coalition is a membership-based trade association that brings together companies, nonprofit organizations, and individuals. The Coalition is managed by a board of directors representing its Executive Members and steered by a board of advisors. The Coalition is registered as a nonprofit corporation in the District of Columbia and recognized by the Internal Revenue Service under section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code.
LEI.INFO is active member of Data Coalition since the beginning of March 2018. We launched our portal and LEI application during 2018 RegTech Data Summit in Washington DC. We have an important role to play in the coalition as we represent the private industry efforts to promote LEI system and make it profitable for both LEI owners and LEI data users alike.
